Websites & Builds

What makes your websites different from DIY builders like Wix, Squarespace or Shopify?

Wix and Squarespace give you access to tools. I give you a complete system designed around your actual business goals.

When you use a DIY platform, you’re picking a template and spending hours wrestling with editors trying to make things look professional. When you work with me, I’m building a custom website specifically for your audience and services. Every page flow, every call-to-action, every piece of messaging is crafted to turn visitors into enquiries.

Performance matters too. DIY builders produce bloated code that slows your site down and hurts your rankings. I build lean WordPress sites optimised for Core Web Vitals because fast sites rank better and convert better.

The biggest difference though? You’re not on your own. You’re not spending weekends troubleshooting broken plugins. I handle security, updates, backups, performance monitoring, and ongoing improvements. Your site becomes a living asset that gets better every month, not something you built once and hoped would work.

You focus on running your business whilst I handle the technical complexity.

What’s included in a new website build?

Everything. Genuinely everything.

Your monthly plan covers the complete ecosystem because a website only works when all the pieces fit together properly. I’m not just building you a site and wishing you luck — I’m taking full ownership of the entire digital infrastructure.

Design & Build: Custom WordPress site built from scratch. No templates. I write the copy, plan the structure, source professional imagery, and design the whole thing around your brand. Mobile-first, accessible, built for conversions.

Technical Foundation: Premium managed hosting with daily backups, SSL certificates, security hardening, and malware protection. I manage all the plugins, handle safe updates, and monitor performance constantly.

Marketing Setup: Google Analytics 4, conversion tracking for calls and forms, Search Console integration, structured data for rich results, and proper lead capture systems.

Ongoing Optimisation: Monthly performance reviews, conversion improvements, content updates, technical support, security audits, and speed monitoring.

You don’t log into hosting panels or manage plugins. You respond to enquiries and run your business. That’s how it should be.

Do I need to provide content and images?

You bring your business knowledge. I turn that into compelling content that converts.

We have a conversation about your business — who you serve, what problems you solve, why you’re the right choice. You give me the must-include details and any existing assets you want to use.

Then I write everything. Professional copywriting that’s optimised for both conversions and SEO. I structure the content so it flows naturally, create clear calls-to-action, and write all the metadata that helps you rank. If you need imagery, I source high-quality professional stock photography and optimise everything for performance.

If you’ve already got content or photos you love, brilliant — I’ll refine them and integrate them properly. If you’re starting from scratch, I’ll create everything and you just approve the direction.

No homework, no pressure to be a copywriter when that’s not your job.

How long does a new website take to build?

For a standard service business site (20-30 pages), you’re looking at 2-3 weeks. Larger sites or eCommerce stores with more pages and functionality typically take 6-8 weeks.

What affects speed? Quick feedback and approvals from your end keeps things moving fast. If you’ve got clear brand guidelines and existing assets, that helps too. Multiple stakeholders requiring approval, complex custom functionality, or extensive product catalogues will add time.

You’ll get a clear project plan with milestones, regular progress updates, and staging site access to review as we build. Most delays come from feedback loops rather than development time — clear communication keeps things on track.

Will I own the website? Is there a minimum term?

You own everything. The website files, design, content, domain registration, and hosting account are all yours. I manage them for you, but you maintain full ownership.

The monthly fee covers hosting infrastructure, ongoing maintenance, security, optimisation, and support — services that keep your site performing at its peak.

Minimum terms: Because there’s no upfront build fee, new website builds and redevelopments have a 12-month minimum term. Local SEO + AI (SEO-only) is rolling monthly.

After 12 months, your plan continues monthly. If you ever cancel, you keep your website and I’ll help you transition hosting smoothly.

Local SEO & AI Visibility

What is Local SEO + AI optimisation, in simple terms?

Local SEO means showing up when people in your area search for what you do. AI optimisation means being recommended by voice assistants, ChatGPT, and Google’s AI overviews.

When someone searches “accountant near me” or “plumber in Bristol”, I make sure your business appears prominently in Google Maps, organic search results, and your Google Business Profile.

When someone asks their phone or an AI assistant for recommendations, the answer comes from structured data, entities, and authority signals. I optimise these elements so you’re understood, trusted, and recommended.

The work includes technical signals like schema markup and entity relationships, authority signals like quality links and reviews, and relevance signals like categories and location targeting.

The outcome is more qualified enquiries from people actively looking for your services in your area, whether they find you through Google, Maps, voice search, or AI recommendations.

What exactly do you do each month?

Every month, I implement strategic improvements across multiple channels to strengthen your local authority and visibility.

Google Business Profile work includes category refinement, weekly posts with offers and updates, Q&A management, fresh photos and videos, review monitoring, and keeping your service areas and hours accurate.

Citation building means establishing your business on authoritative directories, cleaning up inconsistent information, and building presence on local chambers and industry directories.

On-site improvements cover content optimisation, internal linking strategy, page speed monitoring, mobile usability, schema markup updates, and entity relationship building.

AI visibility work includes structured data enhancements for rich results, FAQ and How-to schema, content formatting for AI understanding, and featured snippet optimisation.

Local link building focuses on safe, relevant opportunities like local newspapers, chamber and business associations, event sponsorships, guest content on relevant local sites, and resource page links. No spam, no shortcuts.

Conversion optimisation means analysing call tracking and forms, testing CTAs, enhancing trust signals, and improving page layouts.

How long until we see results?

SEO is a momentum game, not a quick fix.

Weeks 1-4: Foundation work goes live. Technical fixes and schema are implemented, citations start appearing, Google begins re-crawling your site. You’ll see early ranking fluctuations, which is normal.

Weeks 4-8: Initial movement happens. Google Maps visibility often improves first, some keyword positions start climbing, Local Pack appearances increase, and phone calls tick up.

Months 3-6: Compounding growth kicks in. Organic rankings strengthen consistently, link authority accumulates, more keywords reach page one, enquiry volume increases noticeably, and review velocity adds trust signals.

Months 6-12: Sustained authority develops. Dominant local positions solidify, long-tail keywords flood in, AI systems cite and recommend you, and ROI becomes undeniable.

Most clients see meaningful enquiry increases by month 3-4, with results compounding significantly by month 6.

How do you measure success with AI/voice search?

AI and voice search measurement requires looking beyond traditional rankings.

What actually matters: Phone calls tracked by source, form submissions and email enquiries, direction requests from Google Maps, and “click to call” actions from mobile search.

Leading indicators include Google Maps Local Pack appearances, organic keyword rankings (especially mobile), search impression share, and click-through rates.

AI readiness is measured through featured snippet ownership, “People Also Ask” coverage, Google AI Overview appearances, schema markup validation, and entity recognition in the Knowledge Graph.

Authority signals cover review velocity and average rating, citation completeness across platforms, quality backlink acquisition, brand search volume trends, and direct traffic growth.

You’ll receive monthly reports showing enquiry trends, key ranking movements and opportunities, coverage expansion in snippets and AI answers, authority growth through reviews and links, and next month’s strategic focus.

Is your link-building safe?

Absolutely. I only pursue links that build genuine authority and relevance, using methods that align with Google’s quality guidelines.

What I do: Local newspapers and news sites for editorial coverage, chamber of commerce and business associations, local event sponsorships with natural mentions, community organisation partnerships, council and government resource pages. Industry-wise, I target relevant trade associations, industry publications for guest content, resource pages and “best of” lists, and professional memberships.

For content-driven links, I create high-quality guides that earn natural links, produce original research or local data, build helpful resources others want to reference, and reclaim broken links by replacing dead ones.

What I absolutely avoid: Private blog networks, paid link schemes, automated link building software, spun or AI-generated guest post farms, low-quality directory spam, comment or forum manipulation, and links from penalised sites.

Quality link building takes effort, relationships, and time — but the results are permanent and penalty-free.

We have multiple service areas — can you help?

Multi-location and service-area businesses require careful strategic planning to avoid dilution and duplication. I build scalable frameworks that strengthen authority across all your areas.

If you’re a service-area business (like a plumber or electrician serving multiple towns), you get dedicated pages for each primary area with unique, valuable content. No templates — real local landmark references, service-specific content tailored to each area, and consistent NAP data pointing to your main address.

If you have physical locations (actual storefronts or offices), you get a separate Google Business Profile for each location, dedicated website pages with unique local content and testimonials, individual landing pages with specific NAP data, and location-specific blog content.

The internal linking structure uses smart hub-and-spoke architecture, location finder functionality, cross-linking between relevant service and location pages, and breadcrumb navigation for users and search engines.

What we avoid: Duplicate content across location pages, keyword-stuffed “city name” pages with no real value, inconsistent NAP data, fake addresses or virtual offices, and single Google Business Profiles trying to cover multiple physical locations.

Whether you serve 3 towns or 30, I build systems that grow with you whilst maintaining technical integrity and local relevance.

eCommerce

How do you optimise eCommerce for local reach and wider sales?

eCommerce SEO requires balancing local visibility for nearby customers with broader organic reach for wider sales. Most stores lean too heavily on paid ads and ignore free, sustainable traffic.

For local eCommerce, your Google Business Profile gets optimised for retail with product posts and seasonal promotions. Product pages include location-aware elements like delivery area information, local references where relevant, and local pickup options if applicable. Service area pages cover delivery zones with community-focused content.

For wider reach, every product page gets unique, helpful descriptions (never manufacturer copy), long-tail keyword targeting, high-quality imagery with proper alt text, and video content where appropriate. Technical eCommerce SEO includes product schema for rich results, review schema with star ratings in search, clean breadcrumb navigation, proper faceted navigation management, and mobile-first design with fast page speed.

Content strategy covers buying guides and comparison content, how-to articles targeting informational queries, category pages with genuinely helpful content, and user-generated content through reviews and Q&A.

Conversion focus matters because traffic means nothing without sales. That means streamlined checkout, trust signals like reviews and guarantees, clear delivery and returns information, mobile-optimised experience, and Core Web Vitals optimisation.

The outcome is a store that ranks locally for “near me” searches, captures broader organic traffic for product categories, reduces reliance on expensive paid advertising, and builds sustainable, scalable revenue.

Do you migrate existing stores?

Migrating an eCommerce store is high-stakes work. Lose rankings or break functionality and you lose revenue immediately. I plan meticulously to protect your business.

Pre-migration planning includes a full crawl of your existing site, product data export and validation, customer account and order history preservation, third-party integrations mapping, and payment gateway documentation. I take a snapshot of current rankings, analyse your backlink profile, identify high-value pages, compare URL structures, and inventory all metadata and schema.

Migration execution covers product catalogue import with data cleaning, category structure optimisation, customer account and order history migration, image optimisation, and 1:1 URL redirects for every page. I handle schema markup migration, analytics and tracking setup, payment gateway testing, and shipping configuration.

Quality assurance means testing every page on staging, thoroughly testing checkout, verifying mobile responsiveness, benchmarking page speed, and cross-browser testing.

Launch strategy includes scheduling during low-traffic windows, monitoring DNS propagation, real-time error monitoring, immediate Search Console submission, and having a rollback plan ready if critical issues emerge.

Post-migration, I monitor and fix 404 errors, resolve redirect chains, review Search Console errors, and validate analytics. Over four weeks, I monitor ranking recovery, resolve crawl errors, gather user feedback, optimise performance, and track re-indexing progress.

Can you help with reviews and UGC to lift conversion?

Social proof is one of the most powerful conversion drivers in eCommerce. I implement ethical review systems that generate authentic feedback and display it strategically.

Review generation uses automated post-purchase sequences with timed email requests after delivery, SMS prompts for mobile-first customers, multi-touch campaigns for non-responders, and photo/video review encouragement.

Strategic display means product pages show star ratings and recent reviews, category pages feature aggregate ratings and top reviews, the homepage highlights featured testimonials, and checkout provides reassurance at the decision point. Technical implementation includes review schema markup for star ratings in search results and aggregate rating schema.

User-generated content integrates customer photo galleries on product pages, Instagram hashtag ingestion, video testimonial features, and Q&A systems with FAQ schema where appropriate.

Support & Care

What does ‘Upkeep & Support’ include each month?

Your website is a business asset that needs consistent care. Monthly upkeep covers everything required to keep it secure, fast, and performing optimally.

Hosting & Infrastructure: Uptime monitoring, daily automated backups, staging for safe testing, CDN where appropriate, and database optimisation. Security includes SSL management, firewall, malware scanning, login security, and file integrity monitoring.

Maintenance & Updates: WordPress core/plugin/theme updates with compatibility checks, PHP/runtime management, Core Web Vitals tracking, page-speed audits and improvements, image optimisation, and cache configuration.

Content & Functionality: Minor edits, image swaps, nav tweaks, contact info updates, bug fixes, form testing and spam management, email deliverability checks, broken link fixes, and cross-browser checks.

Reporting: Monthly performance summary, key insights, and recommended improvements.

Separately quoted when needed: New sections/pages, custom functionality, complex integrations, bulk eCom product work, and major redesigns.

Is there a setup fee?

No setup fee. Builds/redevelopments are included in the monthly plan with a 12-month minimum.

Optional: If you ask for an accelerated launch (e.g., rapid content production and paid local sponsorships to acquire links quickly), we’ll agree a one-off additional budget up front. This is unusual and only used when you want to move faster than the standard plan.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments are handled securely via Stripe.

Supported methods include major debit/credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), bank debits where available (e.g., UK Direct Debit, SEPA, ACH), and digital wallets like Apple Pay/Google Pay. Coverage depends on your country (UK, USA, EU, AUS supported).

Invoices are issued automatically with receipts for your records.

What happens if I cancel?

Complete your initial 12-month term for build/redevelopment plans; SEO-only is rolling monthly. After that, you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. You keep your site and assets, and I’ll help you transition.

Full terms: View Terms of Service.

Do you offer refunds?

Payments are monthly for work delivered and platform costs incurred, so refunds aren’t applicable to past periods. If there’s ever a billing error, I’ll correct it immediately.

You can cancel per the terms above to stop future renewals.

Are there any hidden costs?

No hidden costs. Your monthly plan covers what’s in scope: hosting/maintenance, ongoing optimisation, reporting, and minor updates.

Baseline off-site work (core citations and sensible link outreach) is included. If you want an aggressive campaign — e.g., large volumes of new citations, paid local sponsorships, or significant digital PR — that requires an additional, pre-approved budget. Nothing happens without your written OK.

New pages, custom features, or complex integrations are quoted separately before any work starts.

Can I pay annually for a discount?

Yes. 10% discount for annual prepayment. Service delivery remains monthly as normal; the discount is applied to the annual invoice.

Most clients start monthly and switch to annual at first renewal once they’ve seen results.
